Understanding how each level of porosity effects your results in a painting takes the mystery out of watercolor and increases your ability to produce consistent results in every painting and not just have "happy accidents" with no real understanding how to recreate (or avoid) the effect next time. FIBERS
STACK AND SLASH with Mary Bajcz
(Free Cut Piecing/Drawing with a Rotary Cutter)
Level: Intermediate
Monday, Feb 8 & 15 for Free Cut Piecing 6-9pm
Bring your supplies, listed under course description: A simple idea with countless possibilities: stack up pieces of fabric, slash through the stacks, rearrange the pieces and sew them back together into units that can be combined into traditional, pictorial, or abstract designs with curves (or not). Think of this of this as drawing with your rotary cutter, but you don’t have to know how to draw. We’ll make a leafy wall hanging in class and make some other units to learn the technique. This piecing method makes fabric that can be used in quilts or clothing. Try it; it’s liberating!
